I was born in Texas. Now I live in New York. Last summer I worked on pipelines in Mississippi, took a road trip through New Mexico and Arizona to Las Vegas with my brothers, spent the night in three different homes in Austin, and ate two racks of ribs and watched 5 and a half hours of free blues in Memphis with my friend Joe. Tonight my friend Will and I wrote a draft of a comedy act while sitting in Fat Cat's, a pool-hall/jazz club down on Christopher and 7th. Ave.
One time in a song I wrote "There are things you got to do sometimes that just ain't no fun," and I think it's probably true.
And other times you can't do the things you want to do, no matter how much you want to do them.
So it's good to go to Vegas, or to Memphis, or even to Jackson, and to write comedy and listen to jazz, I think.
I don't know who was right: Jesus, Van Gogh, Bing Crosby, or Pancho Villa.
